The Nebraska Festival Singers is an auditioned choral ensemble comprised of musicians from around the great state of Nebraska. Through their performances, they strive to connect and inspire their community through artistic excellence and uplifting living composers.
The works programmed by the Nebraska Festival Singers have one common goal: enrich the current choral landscape at all levels. Many members of the ensemble lead careers in choral music education and are always on the hunt for fresh pieces of choral literature. With each season's repertoire, these members leave with new works to add to their mental library and even program them for their own ensembles, connecting the Nebraska Festival Singers with them in a unique way. Along with promoting existing works, the ensemble had the opportunity to commission and perform a new piece by Nebraska-based composer David von Kampen entitled "For The Smallest Things". Along with premiering this piece, the ensemble also was able to provide quality reference recordings for new works by Edna Yeh and Julio Morales on the same program.
Since the creation of the ensemble, the Nebraska Festival Singers have made it a mission to reach multiple communities through their performances. Their invited performances include the 2023 NMEA Conference in Lincoln, the 2023 NCDA Conference in Nebraska City, and the 2024 regional ACDA Conference in Omaha. They continue to base their retreats and home performances in Omaha.
